Platform story
From a valve-testing CRM to a two-sided marketplace: the Civentia journey
Our own platform story — how one niche inspection workflow became an industry-pluggable B2B platform with a two-sided marketplace.
Published September 1, 2026
This is the story we know best, because we lived it: how Civentia evolved from a single-industry tool into the platform it is today. We publish it here — in the slot where customer stories will soon live — because it explains the product better than any feature list.
Starting narrow on purpose
The first Civentia was a CRM for safety-valve inspection companies, plus a Windows desktop client that connects to test benches over Modbus. Choosing one niche let us go deep: entrust orders, test records, valve registries with automatic next-inspection dates, offline fieldwork. That depth taught us the shape of industrial service work — scheduled, certified, auditable.
The generalization
When equipment rental and automotive supply companies came looking for the same rigor, we found the universal layer underneath: every deal walks the same spine — lead, opportunity, quote, contract, delivery, invoice. We rebuilt the platform around that spine, with industry modules plugging into it. Today eight modules are live: safety-valve testing, equipment rental, automotive supply, compliance consulting, inspection-equipment supply, industrial maintenance, laboratory testing, and calibration & metrology.
The other half
A provider running their business well is still invisible to buyers who have never heard of them. So the platform grew its second side: public storefronts, SEO-indexed service and product catalogs, a knowledge base, inquiries — and for serious procurement, structured RFQs and tenders with sealed bidding. Buyers got a portal where orders, deliveries, invoices, and compliance obligations are tracked live.
Where we are
The platform ships in 13 languages, supports multi-currency pricing, and enforces tenant isolation and audit trails at the database level. We are onboarding pilot tenants now — and their stories will appear in this section as they are approved to tell.
